Services
Assessment and Treatment Planning
Our experienced staff conduct thorough assessments to evaluate motor skills, strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, and overall physical abilities. During the evaluation, we assess for underlying musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, or orthopedic issues that may be affecting your child's movement and function. Based on the assessment findings, together we develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to the specific needs and abilities of your child.
Early Intervention
We begin treating congenital and birth trauma children soon after birth. With training in infant massage, DIR floortime, and play-based therapy, we tailor the session to help your child reach their individualized milestones. We employ various intervention techniques, including therapeutic exercises, functional play-based activities, and games to engage children in the rehabilitation process and the development of gross motor skills, including crawling, walking, running, jumping, and other age-appropriate movements.
Orthopedic and Neuromuscular Rehabilitation
Our fun and friendly staff have extensive experience with orthopedic and neuromuscular conditions such as cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, spina bifida, and orthopedic injuries. Research and evidenced based interventions, along with innovative tools, are artfully woven into play based sessions to gain strength, body awareness, and independence allowing a child to reach their highest level of ability, mobility, confidence and safety. Each session is goal-oriented and customized to your child.

What is the first step to getting my child therapy? After you contact Optimum Therapy, an initial evaluation for your child will be scheduled. Evaluations are typically 60 minutes in duration. The evaluation process entails the therapist administering an assessment in addition to using clinical observation and parent input to determine whether there is a need for services. Once the evaluation is complete, the therapist will discuss clinical findings and possible eligibility. If your child qualifies for services, goals and objectives will be included.
-
Do you take insurance?Optimum Therapy is an out-of-network provider. Your insurance company may reimburse you for our services. We recommend reaching out to your insurance company to verify your out-of-network benefits. We are now accepting Maryland Medicaid.
-
Will paying out of pocket cost me more? Not necessarily. Most insurance companies require co-pays to be collected at traditional physical therapy offices. These traditional models typically advise patients to attend PT 2-3x/week. With our model, we tend to see patients 1-2 times per week for one hour, which allows us to provide more effective care.
-
How often will my child need services? The frequency of therapy services varies according to your child’s needs. However, typically children are seen one to two times per week.
